Governemnt has subsidized rent and unemployment. Minimum wage has gone up.

We do have a big homelessness problem in the country but if you stop and talk to the ppl living in tents, you’ll realize they do have Governemnt benefits income $1,000 (SSI) to $2,000 (SSDI) a month, plus hustling income from fencing, boosting, pimping, prostituting, drug-dealing, panhandling, borrowing, donations, etc. Which is going to supporting a drug addiction instead of housing or food. Instead of housing or food, obviously, as most of them choose to live on public areas in tents.

There are plenty of charities here trying to help those in need offering free food, free shelter, free clothes plus they qualify for Medicaid or medical.

It’s actually more expensive to be homeless in America than to pay for housing. As supporting a drug addiction ends up being more expensive than actually paying for housing. Plus hard drugs make people unreasonable, unpredictable, violent and difficult to live with, many end up being kicked out by their families.

Here in the US homeless people with chronic drug addiction spend from $150 to $400 a day to chase a high. So, yes, we need to work on preventing drug addiction yesterday in order to prevent more homelessness.”

@Yolie Remeza, Homelessness is one of the basic problems and needs which our Lord Jesus (Yeshua) charged all His followers to address. The other problems are: hunger (both physical and spiritual), thirst, nakedness (both physical and spiritual), illnesses (both physical and spiritual), slavery (both physical and spiritual)... in short, shelter...home..family.

Let us quote Matthew 25:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

The easiest and most likely to suffer these basic difficulties (hunger, thirst, nakedness, homelessness, illnesses, slavery) is the family who has lost their man (husband and father) and become widow and fatherless.

The enemy long knew that the easiest way to seize wealth of the nation and families is to weaken and ultimately kill the men. The resulting widow and fatherless are the easiest to exploit and oppress.

The way of life that Moses introduced to Israel in Canaan was preventive in nature. It prevents hunger, thirst, nakedness, homelessness, illnesses, slavery thru the commandments (10), statutes (613), 7 annual holidays, and an economic system I call ranchard (ranch + orchard) which was based on the Ecosystem.. this made the nation and its family units very strong against becoming what the Lord consider as the poorest and most pitiful situation in life, namely: losing the man of the family, becoming a widow and fatherless.

Repeatedly, the Lord mentioned the following groups of poor people to be cared for: aliens or strangers, servants, the priests and the widows and orphans.

He commanded His people to attend to invite and take them during celebration times such as during the 7 annual festivals in Israel, and also to look after them afterwards, seeing to it that they receive both justice and charity (compassion).

Moses' first covenant (or rather, first phase of same covenant) was about obedience to God to PREVENT ANY FAMILY FROM FALLING INTO THE STATE OF BEING WIDOW AND FATHERLESS.

Israel was mainly commissioned to promote this Way of life that prevents families from becoming widows and orphans.

When Israel failed, not only did the Israelites became the first to become widows and fatherless, she also failed in her mission to become the protector of nations and families from becoming widows and fatherless.

Now the system of Satan coursed thru Esau's Babylonian system with its multitudes of sorceries or get-rich-quick and get-power-quick schemes and systems, collectively called Babylon the Great or simply the world..this system or way of life composed of countless of subsystems, IS IN ITSELF A GIANT MILL CHURNING COUNTLESS OF WIDOWS AND ORPHANS EVERYDAY! ... that is, disabling the men, mentally or physically, and eventually killing them, leaving behind them helpless widows and featherless children... subjecting them to hunger, thirst, nakedness, homelessness, illnesses, slavery, etc.

When the Mosaic system or way of life was rejected, by its last practitioner, the Israelites, the entire planet was set to becoming a place of widows and orphans.

The number of orphaned daughters became the unlimited source of materials for prostitutes... while their orphaned brothers became the tools to get hired to do the dirty works of the various criminals businesses of the evil rulers of the world.

As prostitution spread, germs and viruses spread...illnesses spread...inflicting first the clean wife then her children and so on and so forth, the whole family and entire society, a big boom for their pharmaceutical industry while orphan boys help hasten the destruction of the minds of the people thru shabu and other drugs.

Indeed the loss of the Way of God that Moses introduced to Israel which Israel was then obligated to spread to the nations has paved the way to the creation of countless of widows and orphans... even if the father-husband is still alive but in some way he is already disabled in the mind or in some body part until he succumbed to total disability or death.

Christ came. To restore and re-introduce the lost Way of Life...calling His second covenant or rather, the second phase of the same Covenant as the "Way, the Truth and the Life"... with a focus on the writing of the laws into the minds and hearts of the people, in a sense, giving us a new hart and a new mind.

This Way...this religion is "he who visits the widow and orphan in time of their needs" (James 1:27). This is where Christ's religion (Christianity) is to focus: the cure-care of widows and orphans in a world that refused to prevent the creation of widows and orphans, thru war, poisons, etc..

We are to merged the Old and New Covenant, hence, both prevent and care for the widows and orphans, who are the most likely to become the hungry, the thirsty, the naked, the strangers or homeless, the ill, the slaves, about whom the Lord said, "What you did to the least of these my brethren, you did it to Me"!

If we want to be real Christian and to be saved, we need to do the main work: preventing families from becoming widows and orphans, and caring for those who, thru war or illness and other acts of cruelty by the fellowman, have become one!
